We’re proud supporters of No Kid Hungry, a sponsoring partner of the Virginia Breakfast Challenge, and thrilled that more than 1,400 schools across our home state enrolled in this year’s challenge to increase participation in the school breakfast program. Congratulations to the winners, especially the Gold category champions listed below who had phenomenal participation and went above and beyond in providing nourishing meals for students in need through creative nutrition programs and integrating Farm-to-School breakfast models!

We understand the importance of making breakfast part of a regular school day; it creates a lasting positive impact and provides students with the fuel they need for a focused-filled day. Studies continuously show that breakfast really is the most important meal—ensuring children grow up strong, healthy, and ready to learn.
Not only do we support Breakfast After the Bell programs, but through a three-year partnership, Smithfield is committed to standing side-by-side with No Kid Hungry to expand summer meals and improve access to nutritious food for students in need throughout the Commonwealth. Sixty-one percent of Virginia kids in need are now eating school breakfast and the strength of the summer meals program in Virginia brought over 3.8 million free summer meals to kids across the Commonwealth last summer.
